Maura McDonnell/Linda Buckley/Dermot Furlong, Silk Chroma

Maura McDonnell is a visual music artist and researcher based in Ireland. Her works have been presented in Ireland, UK, America, Canada and Germany and her recent visual music piece ‘Silk Chroma’, a collaboration with the Irish music composer, Linda Buckley, won an honorary award in 2011 at the annual visual music award event held in Frankfurt, Germany.

She studied Music and Mathematics at The National University of Ireland, Maynooth and completed her M.Phil in Music and Media Technology at Trinity College, Dublin in 1998 focusing on audio-visual composition. Since 1999 she has been part-time lecturing at Trinity College, Dublin on the Music and Media Technologies M.Phil. programme and supervising students’ projects on music and image, and visual music. She is currently a PhD candidate on the Digital Arts and Humanities PhD programme at Trinity College, Dublin since 2011, working on a practice and theoretical project on Visual Music for doctoral research.
